LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITIES
MUSIC
We are seeking an individual—such as a retiree, student, or any person with a passion for piano—who is interested in earning additional income on a weekly basis. The position requires a commitment of one hour each week to provide piano accompaniment for our worship service, held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Our repertoire primarily consists of selections from the Baptist Hymnal (2008), with occasional pieces from the Heavenly Highway Hymns (2nd edition).
Hickory Grove Baptist Church is a small, country congregation located approximately halfway between Harrisonville and Pleasant Hill. The piano is the primary instrument used for congregational music, and the pianist may be asked occasionally to accompany groups or soloists for special worship music. We ask that applicants align with our beliefs as outlined in the Southern Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and demonstrate reliability; reasonable requests for time off may be accommodated.
Our instruments include a baby grand piano (the main instrument), as well as a digital and console piano. The music director will select five congregational songs and one or two quiet pieces each week, providing the music selections early enough in the week to allow ample practice time.
This position offers compensation via a 1099 wage at $50 per week. SHORT-TERM OPPORTUNITIES
SHEEP AND DOGS FOR VBS
We are seeking a volunteer with sheep and herding dogs for a 15-20 minute demonstration at the church on June 4 at 7:30 PM; travel costs may be reimbursed. Plenty of outdoor space is available, and we'll coordinate with the owner or trainer regarding animal safety and containment.
This year's Vacation Bible School centers on Psalm 23 in an Ireland-themed setting, teaching children about Jesus as the Great Shepherd and concluding with the live demonstration. If interested, call the church or send us a message using the contact page.
